Birdie Wilson has never questioned fate—until it brings her to San Francisco for her estranged father's funeral. All she wants is to get back to her life in Seattle and focus on opening the ceramic studio she's always dreamed of. But when Birdie learns that her father left her an inheritance that relies on repairing her relationship with her icy stepsister, Danielle, she reluctantly agrees to stay for the summer. So, when an unforgettable encounter with a handsome stranger leads to hours of laughter, card games, and flirtatious banter that leaves her wanting more, Birdie is too rattled by the timing to risk getting attached. Leaving her love life up to fate, she scribbles her number on a one-dollar bill and tucks it into a tip jar. If he finds it, it's meant to be. If not, she’s spared the heartbreak. Fate, however, has other plans. Because as it turns out, Birdie’s mystery man just so happens to be Parker Voss—Danielle's future brother-in-law and the son of the world's richest tech billionaire—a world Birdie wants no part of. Determined to keep her distance and avoid any complications, Birdie vows that Parker is completely off-limits. But with every twist of fate that brings them back together, Birdie finds their connection impossible to resist—leaving her torn between following her heart, mending her relationship with her stepsister, and staying true to herself.
